The AOC Bandol is one of the oldest Appellations of France, dating back to 1941.
Bandol is a rare wine. The production is limited to less than 40 hectolitres (5000 bottles) per hectare.
At l’Hermitage, the average yield in red wines is around one bottle of 50 cl. per vine.
The Mourvèdre is a rare variety, a king of vines, which makes the character of the Bandol wine (minimum 50% in the red wines). The proportion of Mourvèdre at the Domaine de l'Hermitage is 80% to 90% in the red wines.
The reds are the flag ship of Bandol wines.
With a minimum of 18 months in oak casks, these are excellent long life wines.
